John Jacobs

John practices as an associate in labour and employment law, representing exclusively unions and employees. John joined the firm as an articling student in 2008 and was called to the Bar in 2009.
John's practice area includes labour board and arbitration work, workers' compensation, human rights in the workplace, and workplace benefit issues. He is a presenter at labour conferences, and before joining the firm John made presentations to legislative review committees on employment standards and workers compensation.
John obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Labour and Workplace Studies through night classes while working as a technician for MTS. He obtained his law degree part time while working for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He is a member of the Manitoba Bar Association, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Canadian Association of Labour Lawyers.
John has climbed telephone poles, analyzed data, worked in a 24-hour call centre and test desk, and for ten years was the Assistant Business Manager and Business Manager of a 1,000 member local of the IBEW. During his term as a telephone repairperson he fought bad dogs, chased errant squirrels, and entered 10,000 homes and workplaces.
