Tony Marques

Tony Marques has practiced with Myers Weinberg LLP and its predecessors since 1982, and has been a partner in the firm since 1990. His practice presently consists of Labour and Employment Law, Civil Litigation, Administrative Law and Aboriginal law. He has conducted numerous civil and criminal trials and appeals and has appeared at every court level in Manitoba. He has also appeared before various administrative tribunals including the Manitoba Labour Board, the Workers Compensation Board and at arbitrations dealing with employment matters and entitlement to disability benefits.
Tony has been extensively involved in negotiating the terms of an unprecedented partnership agreement between a First Nation and Manitoba Hydro for construction of a hydro-electric generating station in northern Manitoba.
In the past Tony has been a member of the Complaints Investigation Committee of the Law Society of Manitoba where he served for a number of years. He was also for many years an instructor in the Civil Litigation component of the Bar Admission Course and has, for in excess of 10 years, been an instructor in the Advocacy Course offered by the University of Manitoba Faculty of Law which he continues to teach.
He was a member of the Board of Directors of Rossbrook House from 1983 to 1994 and remains its honorary counsel.
